Tower of Brahma - I Saw A Mountain - 62a (of 64)

Valhalla. The point where two opposing forces begin to seperate, water vapor eradication of eternity, one drop at a time, a shimmering sphere wall, ever expanding.

Charles Crown stands before the crack of all reality. A dividing of houses, life crumbles all about him, shifting rifts tearing itself apart.

Fuck, he sighs.

That's what it all meant. He's the one who first sees the bubble begin to burst. Nothing special, just happens to be him. No great destiny other than being first in line at the dotted line, the parting of two parallel dimensions, Strange savage arayan norweigan wolfgod, and myself.

The Spider sheds its skin, leaving behind a venomous grin, seeping with sinister lies. The weapon with which to kill the serpent. But first, escape.

Run for your lives boys, this chapter is at an end.

Marvel Two-In-One: Strange Tales

Madripoor
Peter Parker comes ashore. No need for pretense, costume, identity. A score to settle. Logan hurt her, crossed a line. Firestar? Old school. Bar fight. Switchblades. Tarantino.

Dean Walker, Intern of Dr. Strange
College student. Runs errands for multi-tasking Dr. Strange. He guides the universe's soul. Dean picks up the mail. From the infernal motorcycle ride through Hell, to soaring the waves of cosmic radiation. Into the maw of Mephisto burning with lies, out of the gaze of the eternal Watcher. Dormmamu's Dread Dimension lies all around the entire known reality, Mindless Ones carving through vibrational quantum states, swarming all about us. The Son of Son of Satan's power and status as True Lord of Hell commands respect, and perhaps defeat the Dread Dormmamu by claiming his father's trident. Whatever form he wants. Yo-yo. Hipster healer of humanity. Jazz poet beat alternative. Seeing Marvel through fresh eyes. Betrayed youth. Not from that reality.

A reality where Longshot & Dazzler's child grew up to become Shatterstar. Domino is the old lady assassin. May Parker, Spider-Girl. Daken. Skaar. M2.

Tales to Astonish
A Stark assassin. Long lost Stark brother. Teenage Stark. Fakes evidence, false history. Gets a job undercover for Stark. Makes Stark recruit him. Devious.

A military guy. A nobody from nowhere. Didn't talk much. Spoke when spoken to. SHIELD agent in training, given special clearance due to respect and honor of the chain of command and several acts of bravery. A hero.

Partnered up to scour the globe looking for Stark plants with hidden weapon caches. Scavengers, mercenaries, gun-runners and supervillains all looking for a piece of the action, a chance to get some serious firepower. Safer weapons used in violent hands.

The Rose. Kingpin. Connected. Patient. Ready to take advantage of a situation.

Harry Osborn. Heir to a fortune, son of a madman.

Business. Military.

Tales of Suspense
Pym. Banner. Lawson?
Teenage genius with an application of Pym Particles & Gamma Radiation. It cures the Hulk, and allows complete control of the transformation. The thing they didn't count on was the theory that the Hulk itself is the ever expanding gamma bomb, threatening to destroy all reality. Oops. Get smart Lawson! Think your way out. Amadeus Cho. He knew that the brains of the Marvel Thinkers were its biggest threat. The hero that rises from them is what matters. The Hulk. Mr. Fantastic. Iron Man. Professor X. Ant-Man.
Science heroes.

Namor is will. Dr. Strange is spirit. Silver Surfer is energy. Black Bolt is harmonics. Spider-Man is totem science.

Girls Club! Week One

Hello Clubbers, I hope all of you enjoyed week one of Girls Club. As Write Club heads into its second year, we'll be setting up a theme to coincide month by month with what's going on in comics. So for Women's History Month & Marvel's publishing of Girls Comics, we present Girls Club.

We kicked off the week on Monday with a new logo and article on Making Mini-Comics by the hilarious and talented Lauren Barnett of MeLikesYouComics.

On Tuesday we had Mike Mooch (who is not the DJ DaMooch) run down his pick for the top iconic female video game characters.

Wednesday, aka Comic Book Day, had our resident comic reviewers Jonathan Gelatt & Brian Bannen cover the week in comics. We even got quoted for Jon's review of Underground #5 over at Periscope Studios, home of Steve Lieber and others.

Thursday, Jayme Roxann Wright delivered unto us her first in a series of articles about Breaking Into Comics As A Female, busting down the doors on the boys club and preparing to take comic publishing by storm by showing it what it's been missing: a realistic approach to writing women.

That wraps up the first week of Girls Club, but stay tuned Write Clubbers, as we've got a lot more fun and excitement up our sleeves. This week we'll have a new episode of the podcast up where we'll talk to Nikki Cook about her process and Girl Comics.

While I prepare to deal with these two female hackers called DARK PHONETIX, I'll leave you with some links on Girl Comics.

Thanks for reading.

Slacker Tuesday: Not Girl Comics but Comics by Girls

I know how you feel. Sitting there at work, putting off whatever it is that you gotta do, groggy and tired, barely able to form a coherent thought. It's best to take it easy today. Why not read some comics?

First I've take a selection of female creator comics from web collective Act-I-Vate.

Miss Lasko-Gross: A Mess of Everything

Molly Crabapple: Backstage

Jennifer Tong: Orifice

Jennifer Hayden: Underwire

You can also read the Geek Girl on the Street's review of the Act-I-Vate Primer.

A few other webcomics of note by female creators are:

Girls With Slingshots by Danielle Corsetto

Scene Language by Corey Marie

Octopus Pie by Meredith Gran

Random Assembly by Samantha Allen

I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space by Megan Rose Gedris

Sub*Text

Hello. Welcome to Sub*Text. An experiment in DIY publishing, a way for me to promote myself and others of considerable talent, a literary zine that pushes boundaries. I'm putting this work out there into the world and seeing what it becomes.

Start something. Anything. Whatever you want, however you'd like. Let me know what it is and I'll help you in any way I can. I'm trying to build connections between the solitary artists that I know and hopefully we'll create a new scene.

I've never belonged to anything larger than myself before. No literary journal really clicked with me. There's not one contemporary author that I truly admire. A void exists where I linger, the space I roam between mainstream and alternative. Part beat poet, part science hero.

I've been writing poetry & short stories since junior high, screenplays in college, and comic scripts through my 20's. I have a few shorts published in comic anthologies, a nearly completed fictional autobiography, and a massive graphic novel about to see print in the coming months.

I also co-host a writing/comic book podcast called Write Club. We try to promote the smaller creator, just beginning their ascent, on the verge of making a splash, just needing to find their audience. I would encourage the entire world to create more if I could, for I feel that's the best way to save ourselves.

And Sub*Text is my way of showcasing the work I wrote that helped save me from quite literally going mad. I know I'm not alone in that feeling, that desperate cry for attention while locking yourself in your own mind. And you're not alone either.

There's something going on beneath the surface of mankind, a fire burning, consuming us from within. Let me help spread the flames and we'll all burn together.
