Bob Awesome: Original Script Idea

BOB AWESOME

OUTLINE:

ACT I - Intro Bob Awesome, Town, Job, Friends, and High School Cliques
Bob wakes up and goes about his routine. We need to get a sense that Bob has done the same routine for quite a long time and although he does it, he does it begrudgingly.

He drives through the town to get to work and we get a sense for his distaste for the familiar old town.

Bob arrives at the bowling alley, Crossroad Lanes(?), and laments his awful life.

Bob's friends are introduced:
Sam:
Owner of bowling alley.
Big, strong, and loud. Theresa's father.
Nick:
Best pal/Childhood friend. (Jughead)
Tall, thin, and quiet. Artist/Bartender.
Optimistic. "Life Hands You Lemons Make Lemonade."
Theresa:
Co-worker/Food counter.
Tough and spunky. College student.

Theresa makes Bob promise that he'll come out to a party that night.
Despite his distaste for the crowd he grew up with, Nick and Bob show up only to be reminded why they remain anti-social. Bob gets a little wasted and goes outside to water the plants. Stumbling towards the woods across the way, Bob starts to hear a loud pounding noise and see some bright lights. He makes his way closer when he comes across a huge demon stomping straight towards him.

ACT II - Intro Hero World, Female Interest, Training
Bob wakes up in his bed. It should seem just like the beginning of ACT I, but Bob doesn't seem too sure. Slowly he starts to convince himself that he must have drank too much and that Nick or Theresa must have brought him home. Then he goes to begin his routine and opens his bedroom door…bright, white light pours into the room.

Once the light dies down Bob enters what looks like a school cafeteria. He wanders around and sees a few other men and women here. He sees one particularly attractive female sitting by herself.

Exterior view of the Crossroad County Lanes bowling alley. It is a modest bowling alley and the parking lot is mostly filled with pick-ups, trucks and vans.

SFX: CRASH!

MAX(V.O.): STRRRRRRRIIIIKE, BABY!

Panel 2
Interior of the bowling alley. We're looking across the room, getting a good view of life inside a bowling alley. It's league night and teams of men and women are hurling their balls down the lanes, and drinking beers.

MAX(V.O.): THAT'S GAME FELLAS.

Panel 3
At the far end of the building are three men, two large demonic figures, and a sharply dressed DEVIL taking up the last two lanes. The three men are BOB AWESOME, NICK O' TIME, and MAX CRASH. They are all in their mid-twenties and are wearing T-shirts and jeans. The two large demons look angry.

MAX: PAY UP, YOU COCKSMOKERS!

NICK: MAX, COME ON…

Close up on BOB as he picks up his bowling ball from the ball return and puts it into his bag. He looks tired and emanates a feeling of empty victory. In the background we can see NICK and MAX looking over their shoulders towards BOB. The DEVIL looks on disdainfully.

BOB: ENOUGH MAX. HE'LL PAY.
